Leitor de devaneios: imagens poéticas em A prisioneira, de Marcel Proust

Abstract

This thesis analyzes the novel The Prisoner (2011), the fifth volume of In Search of Lost Time by Marcel Proust, through a methodology grounded in Gaston Bachelard’s phenomenology of reverie (1998). The Bachelardian poetic reverie is applied not merely as a theoretical category, but as a praxis of active reading capable of tracing the work’s imagery flow and memorialist poetry. This perspective provides an understanding of how poetic images unfold within the reader-dreamer’s memory, engendering new images and establishing a creative experience. To sustain this methodological horizon, the study articulates conceptual operators: Maurice Blanchot’s fragmentation (1990). He structures a critical investigation into time, memory, ephemerality, and the physical boundaries of the act of writing, composing a theoretical framework that directly dialogues with the Proustian texture. The research demonstrates how the narrator constructs a path of self-knowledge through romantic experiences and art, while simultaneously problematizing the notions of time and reality. The study finds tha Proustian temporality is organized by affects and involuntary memory, establishing its own logic of perception and representation of the world.
