| Summary: | Este artigo investiga o barroco para além de suas delimitações históricas, compreendendo-o como uma lógica imagética persistente. À luz da noção de sobrevivência anacrônica de Georges Didi-Huberman, propõe-se uma leitura comparada entre a pintura Júpiter e Sêmele (1895), de Gustave Moreau, e o romance Crônica da casa assassinada (1959), de Lúcio Cardoso. Com base em Wölfflin, Severo Sarduy e Victor Hugo, a análise mobiliza conceitos como excesso, artificialização e antítese, evidenciando afinidades imagéticas que revelam o barroco como força estética ativa no imaginário moderno. |
| Abstract: | This article investigates the Baroque beyond its historical delimitations, understanding it as a persistent imagistic logic. In light of Georges Didi-Huberman’s notion of anachronic survival, this paper proposes a comparative reading of the painting Jupiter and Semele (1895) by Gustave Moreau and the novel Chronicle of the Murdered House (1959) by Lúcio Cardoso. Drawing on Wölfflin, Severo Sarduy, and Victor Hugo, the analysis mobilises concepts such as excess, artificialization, and antithesis, revealing imagistic affinities that conceive the Baroque as an active aesthetic force in the modern imaginary. |
