O antes, o depois e o porvir

Abstract

In this memoir, a partial requirement for promotion to the rank of Full Professor in the Higher Education Teaching Career, I present to the Institute of Letters and Linguistics (ILEEL) of the Federal University of Uberlândia one version of the trajectory I have lived from childhood until the beginning of 2025. One version because memory selects what it can bear and what it needs, without ceasing to be true. Along this path, it was not easy to separate the personal from the professional/academic; therefore, I divide the text into "The Before," "The After," and "The Future." "The Before" refers to the approval in the competitive examination for a teaching position at ILEEL, "The After" refers to the future, which consists of projects concerning what will come after the presentation of this memoir, that is, what I still intend to accomplish based on what has constituted me up to this point. The writing contemplates, in addition to the three pillars that sustain the university – teaching, research, and outreach – management, with emphasis on outreach.
