O drama do feminino: crise de gênero e despolitização

Abstract

This monograph investigates the logical and historical roots of the oppression of women by men in contemporary society and throughout time. It posits that the reinstatement of the dimension of sexual difference is a crucial key that can contribute to the reorganization of the feminist movement, even in the face of post-structuralist and queer theory attempts to renounce this very concept. The study is divided into two main parts. The first part, titled "The Subject," initially proposes the importance of considering sexual difference as a fundamental dimension of human existence that must be reinserted into the historical narrative. Subsequently, it investigates the meaning of "gender" as currently understood, establishing the idea that it operates as a social construct and a mechanism of oppression, particularly for women. It then argues how, stemming from the definition of gender as a social product, the concept of gender self-identification causes the notion of gender itself to become hollowed out and linguistically untranslatable, thereby triggering a crisis within the feminist movement. The second part, also titled "The Politics," situates the discussion in a wider context, arguing that capitalism and modern science, as products of Western Cosmotechnics, have historically ignored women, seeking to supplant female reproductive capacity and commodify women's bodies. Finally, it argues that the primacy of self-identification in public discourse and within feminism is a symptom of neoliberal individualism. Thus, identity politics effectively kidnaps the collective dimension of politics through a focus on the self, which ultimately undermines the transformative capacity of democracy and the feminist struggle, as their claims lack a tangible addressee. Therefore, the study advocates for the necessity of woman as the political subject of feminism.
