| Summary: | A presente monografia tem como objetivo realizar uma análise da improvisação do violinista Stéphane Grappelli no contexto do gypsy jazz, buscando compreender os elementos que caracterizam sua linguagem musical. Para isso, foram transcritos e analisados dois solos presentes em gravações de estúdio das músicas “Appel Indirect” e “Black and White”. A pesquisa concentra-se na identificação de padrões estruturais, recorrências melódicas e estratégias de desenvolvimento temático empregados por Grappelli em sua abordagem improvisativa. Os resultados evidenciam uma estética marcada pela coesão motívica, fluidez melódica e expressividade rítmica, contribuindo para a compreensão do estilo do músico e oferecendo subsídios a instrumentistas e pesquisadores interessados na improvisação aplicada ao jazz manouche. |
| Abstract: | This monograph aims to analyze the improvisation of violinist Stéphane Grappelli in the context of gypsy jazz, seeking to understand the elements that characterize his musical language. For this purpose, two solos from studio recordings of the pieces “Appel Indirect” and “Black and White” were transcribed and analyzed. The research focuses on identifying structural patterns, melodic recurrences, and thematic development strategies employed by Grappelli in his improvisational approach. The results reveal an aesthetic marked by motivic cohesion, melodic fluency, and rhythmic expressiveness, contributing to the understanding of the musician’s style and offering insights for instrumentalists and researchers interested in jazz improvisation. |
