Síndrome de Burnout em professores do ensino superior

Abstract

This scoping review aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the literature on Burnout Syndrome in higher education teachers over the last ten years. To this end, it sought to map the main challenges faced by these professionals and identify practices and policies that can contribute to the improvement of their mental health and, consequently, the quality of teaching. Guided by the PRISMA-ScR checklist, searches were conducted in the SciELO, LILACS, and CAPES journal portal databases, yielding ten eligible studies. Results indicated a high prevalence of Burnout Syndrome in this professional group, primarily associated with excessive workload, productivity pressures, and the demands of technology use. Keyword analysis identified occupational burnout, faculty, and burnout as central terms within the literature. The findings suggest that Burnout is an emerging concern requiring institutional strategies and health promotion policies to support faculty mental well-being.
