As incidências da lógica algorítmica no sujeito e no laço social: um estudo psicanalítico

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the implications of algorithmic logic on the subject and social bonds. The hypothesis guiding this investigation is that algorithms induce an 'algorithmic narcissism' by reinforcing individual preferences, homogenizing content, and obstructing encounters with alterity. This dynamic subverts the potential of virtualization as described by Pierre Lévy, where heterogeneity gives way to homogenization, as digital platforms are structured to capture subjectivity through extreme personalization and the commodification of data. Consequently, echo chambers emerge, affecting not only the subject's psychic economy but also the structure of social bonds, fostering fragile and disposable connections. Methodologically, the psychoanalytic approach is adopted, grounded in the works of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan to interpret the effects of this logic on the subject and social bonds. The theoretical analysis is complemented by studies on digital culture, algorithmic governmentality, and contemporary discourses4such as the digital discourse and PST discourse4while also addressing the discrepancy between two coexisting temporal logics in contemporary society: that of the subject and that of the algorithm. Thus, this study proposes a critical reading of the effects of digitalization on the subject and social bonds, problematizing how algorithmic logic influences psychic processes and relational ties. The research integrates psychoanalysis into contemporary debates, reaffirming its critical role in interpreting the discontent of digital culture, which, in turn, aligns algorithmic logic with neoliberal logic.
