O Sujeito e a Máquina: Estudo psicanalítico sobre os usos da Inteligência Artificial

Abstract

This dissertation investigates the interactions between subjectivity, desire, and artificial intelligence (AI) from a psychoanalytic perspective. Drawing on authors such as Freud, Lacan, Winnicott, and André Green, the research analyzes how AI operates as a simulacrum of the "Other," promoting the illusion of completeness that can negatively impact social bonds and subjective dynamics. Based on the hypothesis that AI is not a neutral tool and therefore impacts the subject in the "user-AI" relationship, this dissertation will be comprised of a total of four studies that discuss the ethical, subjective, and social aspects of this interaction. At this time, the three completed articles are presented. The first explores the ethical implications of chatbots in mental health, highlighting challenges related to privacy, bias, and responsibility. The second addresses the erasure of the subject and the dynamics of desire promoted by user-AI interaction. The third focuses on the impacts of neoliberalism and the logic of consumption, emphasizing how these technologies signal the reconfiguration of social bonds. The fourth article focuses on the implications of the subject's relationship with AI concerning narcissism, primarily in forms of subjective aggrandizement. The dissertation concludes that there are reinforcements of alienating dynamics and immediate gratification, in which AI significantly affects the constitution of the subject and social ties by offering a availability that refers to issues of primary narcissism, demanding critical and ethical approaches that contemplate these transformations.
