afetar o comportamento do membro inferior (MI) durante o movimento, podendo
alinhamento do joelho.
apresentou menor ativação do glúteo médio durante a fase preparatória, enquanto o
Abstract
Running is a popular activity with many health benefits but often associated with
injuries. Dynamic knee valgus (DKV), common in women, is a lower limb (LL) behavior
that can occur during movement and may increase the risk of injury. The Single Leg
Drop Landing Test (SDLT) is able to reproduce what happens in running and
investigate the relationship between landing and knee alignment. The aim of the study
was to determine whether the presence of the DKV can induce differences in
electromyographic (EMG) patterns and the kinematics of the LL. The study analyzed
27 female amateur runners, divided into two groups: with and without DKV. The angles
of the LL joints in the sagittal and frontal planes were calculated during the SDLT, and
the EMG was calculated in three phases of the SDLT: preparatory phase, initial contact,
and return phase. Statistical analysis used Student's t-test, with a significance level of
p<0.05. The results showed that the valgus group had less activation of the gluteus
medius during the preparatory phase, while the tibialis anterior had its activity
increased in the return phase. The valgus group also showed greater angular
excursion of the hip in the sagittal and frontal planes. There were no significant
differences between the groups in terms of anthropometry, muscle strength, or ground
reaction force. We conclude that individuals with DKV have adaptations in the EMG
and kinematics of the hip, which may increase the risk of running injuries.
