| Summary: | Este trabalho investiga questões políticas e econômicas dos grandes mercados de energia, no contexto da consolidação da agenda climática a nível global, através da análise das grandes economias produtoras e grandes economias consumidoras de combustíveis fósseis (petróleo, gás natural e carvão mineral), e também de grandes mercados de energia renovável (energias eólica, solar fotovoltaica, hidrelétrica, de biomassa e geotérmica) e nuclear. O estudo aponta para a centralidade da Ásia na expansão da capacidade de geração global, através de fontes renováveis e de baixo carbono, e também de fontes não-renováveis e de alta emissão de gases de efeito estufa, o que, junto a outros fatores analisados, pode indicar que a transição energética tem sido um processo não-linear de diversificação e não de substituição das matrizes energéticas. |
| Abstract: | This work investigates political and economic issues of the large energy markets, in the context of the consolidation of the climate agenda at a global level, through the analysis of the producing economies and the consumer economies of fossil fuels (oil, gas and coal), and also of the large renewable energy markets (wind, photovoltaic, hydroelectric, biomass and geothermal power) and nuclear. The study points to the centrality of Asia in the expansion of global generation capacity, through renewable and low-carbon sources, and also non-renewable sources and high greenhouse gas emissions, which, along with other factors analyzed, may indicate that the energy transition has been a non-linear process of diversification and not replacement of energy mixes. |
