Abstract
Given all the changes achieved by women, changes that guarantee greater freedom for their
bodies and financial independence, in this scenario motherhood has ceased to play a main role
in their lives and has given way to professional success. However, it is still silently imposed on
contemporary women to give up their professional advancement to give way to home care,
marriage and raising a family, demonstrating that even with advances, women still do not have
complete freedom and autonomy over their lives. own choices. (VIELLA, 2015) The main goal
of this academic work was to respond to the following problem: What is the perception of
Accounting students who are mothers about motherhood and the challenges that the
triple/fourth shift imposes: being a mother, being a student, being a worker , be a housewife?
To try to obtain sufficient facts to answer this problem, interviews were carried out with seven
women who fit the analyzed profile, in addition to bibliographical research on renowned actors.
Through the reports it was possible to obtain numerical data that allowed the construction of a
research with true data. After data collection, it was possible to conclude that some factors are
extremely important to reconcile the triple shift in the accounting area, as a positive point the
flexibility of the work format that the area offers stands out, but even with advances in standards
women are still primarily responsible for caring for their children and continue to give up their
careers and delay graduation due to motherhood fitting into the Work-Life balance, as they
hesitate to combine several shifts in parallel with motherhood.
