Entre o real e o imaginário: uma leitura de Patos de Minas através dos seus lugares e suas lendas

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the transformations of the territory of Patos de Minas based on the legends present in local literature, which have little to do with the image of the city and its imaginary. This story begins with its feet on the ground, with narratives that were planted in the roots of the emergence of the city of Patos de Minas, Minas Gerais. The main objective is to analyze the transformations of the territory and the imaginary city present in each story, highlighting, through cartography, the overlap of the imaginary city with the real city. The aim is to understand not only the inherent qualities and unique characteristics of these places, but also their subjective nuances, in order to identify the imaginary city. This research seeks to develop a reading of the city through legends, seeking to recognize and bring to light the city present in history, memory and imagination, whose original territories are increasingly distant from the real concrete city. In this research, we chose to understand sensitive cartography as a method of approach and walking as a methodological procedure, seeking to understand the importance of reading cities in a different way. Thus, it is hoped to construct cartographies and narratives that highlight the subjective city, the invisible layers of places that, in times past, were present in reality.
