dc.description.abstractThe objective of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a porcine dermal matrix mucosal tissue substitute (MDS) in the treatment of gingival recessions associated with non-carious cervical lesions. The study consisted of 16 patients in need of surgery for root coverage. These patients had non-carious cervical lesions associated with gingival recession that were treated by restoring the root surface with composite resin and subsequently covering the lesions with MDS associated with a coronally repositioned flap. The clinical parameters analyzed were collected in the pre-surgical baseline periods and after 1, 3 and 6 months post-surgery. Where it was collected: (1) probing depth (PS), (2) recession height (AR), (3) clinical attachment level (NIC: PS + AR), (4) keratinized mucosa thickness (EMQ), (5) height of keratinized mucosa (AMQ) and (6) percentage of root coverage (%RR). Patients had 33 recessions treated with MDS. It was observed that the treatment promoted a reduction in the height of the recession, partial coverage of the recessions, gain in clinical level of insertion, with stable probing depth, increase in the keratinized mucosa and maintenance of the thickness of the keratinized mucosa. Additionally, it was observed that 15 of the 33 recessions (45.45%) treated with MDS were completely covered after 6 months of follow-up. It can be concluded that soft tissue substitute of xenogeneic origin provides limited results in the treatment of gingival recessions associated with non-carious cervical lesion.pt_BR

dc.description.resumoO objetivo desse estudo foi o de avaliar a efetividade de um substituto de tecido mucoso de matriz dérmica suína (MDS) no tratamento de recessões gengivais associados lesões cervicais não-cariosas. O estudo consistiu em 16 pacientes com necessidade de cirurgia para recobrimento radicular. Esses pacientes apresentavam lesões cervicais não cariosas associados a recessão gengival que foram tratados por restauração da superfície radicular com resina composta e posterior recobrimento das lesões com MDS associado a retalho reposicionado coronalmente. Os parâmetros clínicos analisados foram coletados nos períodos de baseline pré-cirúrgico e após 1, 3 e 6 meses de pós-cirúrgico. Onde foi coletado: (1) profundidade de sondagem (PS), (2) altura da recessão (AR), (3) nível de inserção clínica (NIC: PS + AR), (4) espessura da mucosa queratinizada (EMQ), (5) altura de mucosa queratinizada (AMQ) e (6) porcentagem de recobrimento radicular (%RR). Os pacientes tiveram 33 recessões tratadas com MDS. Foi observado que o tratamento promoveu redução da altura da recessão, recobrimento parcial das recessões, ganho de nível clinico de inserção, com estabilidade de profundidade de sondagem, aumento da mucosa queratinizada e manutenção da espessura da mucosa queratinizada. Adicionalmente, foram observados que 15 das 33 recessões (45.45%) tratadas com MDS foram totalmente recobertas após 6 meses de acompanhamento. Pode-se concluir que substituto de tecido mole de origem xenógena proporciona resultados limitados no tratamento de recessões gengivais associados a lesões cervicais não-cariosas.pt_BR
