| Summary: | A evolução das expressões artísticas da humanidade trouxe o cinema como um fenômeno cultural e artístico que transcende o entretenimento, explorando questões sociais, políticas e culturais. Nas Relações Internacionais (RI), o cinema atua como uma ponte entre teorias acadêmicas e a realidade, enriquecendo nossa compreensão das questões globais. Recentemente, o campo de estudos das RI ampliou seu escopo, passando de um foco predominante em segurança e conflitos para destacar questões ambientais, levando ao surgimento da Teoria Verde. Baseado nessa ideia, o presente artigo busca examinar a animação japonesa “Princesa Mononoke” (1997) como uma representação artística dos princípios norteadores da Teoria Verde, a saber, o ecocentrismo, a justiça ambiental, os limites do crescimento e a descentralização da governança ambiental. Nesse sentido, serão realizadas análises de cenas e personagens específicos da animação que trazem consigo pontos a serem debatidos sob o escopo da teoria. |
| Abstract: | The evolution of humanity's artistic expressions brought cinema as a cultural and artistic phenomenon that transcends entertainment, exploring social, political and cultural issues. In International Relations (IR), cinema acts as a bridge between academic theories and reality, enriching our understanding of global issues. Recently, the field of IR studies has expanded its scope, moving from a predominant focus on security and conflicts to highlighting environmental issues, leading to the emergence of Green Theory. Based on this idea, this article seeks to examine the Japanese animation “Princess Mononoke” (1997) as an artistic representation of the guiding principles of Green Theory, namely, ecocentrism, environmental justice, the limits of growth and the decentralization of environmental governance. In this sense, specific scenes and characters from the animation will be analyzed, which bring with them points to be debated within the scope of the theory. |
