| Summary: | O artigo explora o impacto das redes sociais, especialmente Instagram, na divulgação científica. E busca mostrar como cientistas e instituições usam essas plataformas para compartilhar pesquisas e se conectar com o público. A metodologia incluiu análise de métricas de alcance e engajamento de páginas e perfis científicos no Instagram. Foi criada uma página para o Laboratório de Análise Paleontológica (LABAP) da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia para observar o impacto no campus. O conteúdo analisado foi selecionado com base na qualidade das informações, variedade de temas e relevância do perfil. Os resultados revelaram muitas informações científicas disponíveis online, foram selecionadas um total de 12 páginas para serem analisadas. Postagens sobre tópicos de interesse geral obtiveram um engajamento acima da média. Postagens especializadas tiveram engajamento limitado. A página do LABAP alcançou um número significativo de 199 seguidores e 4.013 interações, demonstrando o potencial das redes sociais para a disseminação do conhecimento. O artigo conclui enfatizando a importância da avaliação crítica das informações nas redes sociais e da adaptação do conteúdo científico aos interesses do público. |
| Abstract: | The article explores the impact of social networks, especially Instagram, on scientific dissemination. It seeks to show how scientists and institutions use these platforms to share research and connect with the public. The methodology included analysis of reach and engagement metrics of scientific pages and profiles on Instagram. A page was created for the Paleontological Analysis Laboratory (LABAP) of the Federal University of Uberlândia to observe the impact on campus. The content analyzed was selected based on the quality of information, variety of themes, and profile relevance. The results revealed a lot of scientific information available online, a total of 12 pages were selected to be analyzed. Posts about general interest topics obtained above-average engagement. Specialized posts had limited engagement. The LABAP page reached a significant number of 199 followers and 4,013 interactions, demonstrating the potential of social networks for knowledge dissemination. The article concludes by emphasizing the importance of critical evaluation of information on social networks and adapting scientific content to public interests. |
