Abstract

Introduction: Trauma is characterized as a high-impact physical shock that causes damage to different regions of the body, which is why an immediate identification of its degree of complexity is necessary to designate the conducts to be used for each patient. In view of the above, it is observed that air medical transport is considered one of the fastest means to access the most complex facilities equipped with equipment and trained professionals to intervene in situations that threaten the lives of these victims. Objective: To analyze existing theoretical references on the subject and describe the importance of nurses in air medical transport in the survival of critically ill patients involved in risk events. Methodology: The study is an integrative literature review, exploratory and descriptive in nature, carried out in journals indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Virtual Health Library (BVS) and Latin American and Latin American Literature databases. Caribbean in Health Sciences (LILACS). Results: The main subjects found after selecting the articles were: nurse actions during air rescue, main protocols and conducts during removal, clinical knowledge in decision-making and flight physiology. Conclusion: The development of this research showed how important, and indispensable is the role of nurses during air medical rescue in the survival of critically ill patients, which requires special training and effective assistance.
