Hipersensibilidade alimentar em cão - relato de caso

Abstract

Trophoallergy dermatitis or food hypersensitivity is a pathology of an immune-mediated nature, that occurs by the animal's contact with the allergen contained in the food. The common symptomatology associated with the disease is non-seasonal pruritus, unresponsive to corticosteroid therapy, that responds to elimination diet, which is considered the gold standard method for the diagnosis of food hypersensitivity. The elimination and maintenance diet for the affected animal can be homemade, prepared according to the knowledge of the animal's previous diet, or commercial diets, prepared based on hydrolyzed protein. The disease corresponds to 1% of the pathologies that affect dogs in the medical clinic and can represent up to a third of skin diseases of immune-mediated origin, which may or may not occur concomitantly with other allergic conditions. The present work is a case report, referring to the care of a 7-year-old toy poodle dog, at HOVET-UFU, whose clinical suspicion was food hypersensitivity, with a historic of previous treatments with the use of anti-inflammatory drugs and hypoallergenic feed. The animal was submitted to sequential discard of pruritic dermatitis and during the exclusion diet, it presented significant improvement of the symptoms, being the probable diagnosis food hypersensitivity.
