Abstract

Cemento-osseous dysplasia is a non-neoplastic disease that has a predilection for black women between 40 and 50 years of age. It is the most common fibro-osseous lesion in the clinical practice of dental surgeons, with three clinical and radiographic classifications: focal, periapical and florid. It usually does not generate symptoms, but it can eventually cause bone sequestration, which may require clinical and even surgical interventions. The objective of this work is to report a clinical case of making a total denture for a 78-year-old patient who has florid fibrous dysplasia with significant bone sequestration in the lower alveolar ridge. In this context, we opted for the internal coating of this prosthesis with resilient material (“soft liners”) which, due to its composition, allows a better distribution of forces received by the device, thus generating greater adaptation and comfort for the patient. At the end of the clinical case, the patient's satisfaction with the use of the lower prosthesis modified by the resilient material was perceived, even in comparison with the conventionally made maxillary denture.
