A Feira do Sindicato em Ituiutaba-MG como espaço de (re)produção da agricultura familiar

Abstract

Family farming is directly linked to family, land and work, with its own characteristics according to each region and locality. In this research, we intend to discuss the socioeconomic and cultural relations experienced by a group of family farmers who sell their production at an open market in the town Ituiutaba (MG)idealized by the Union of Rural Workers of this municipality, popularly known as “Feira do Sindicato". Thus, it aims to understand the economic and social importance of the open market for family farmers and for the municipality of Ituiutaba - MG. In order to achieve the proposed objectives, a bibliographic research was carried out on family farming in Brazil and on open markets, in addition to data collection from primary sources with interviews with the president of the Union of Rural Workers of the municipality of Ituiutaba (MG) and market stall owners, who reported their experiences from that work space. From the reports obtained during the interviews and visits carried out in the open markets in the municipality of Ituiutaba (MG), corroborating the theoretical framework adopted, the importance of the fair was perceived both for family farmers and the population, from a socioeconomic point of view, as well as cultural, and also as the feeling of belonging present in that space that resists and validates the achievements, values and customs of the researched group.
