Summary:	O medo na sociedade tem distorcido o entendimento de violência e dos agentes violentos e isso tem trazido diversas consequências para o meio social. A cultura do medo é definida aqui como a naturalização dessa forma de convivência e a utilização do medo para manipulação e perpetuação de poderes. Com isso, é imperioso destacar que o corpo social manipulado passa a demandar por um estado cada vez mais punitivista e brutalizado. Não entendendo como bastante, a população passa a empregar meios de se proteger da violência, utilizando de espaços privados, segurança privada, buscando até se defender por meio do armamento civil, o que por meio de estatísticas e informações oficiais verificamos como maléfico para a sociedade como um todo.
Abstract:	Fear in society has distorted the understanding of violence and violent agents and this has brought several consequences for the social environment. The culture of fear is defined here as the naturalization of this form of coexistence and the use of fear for manipulation and perpetuation of powers. Thus, it is imperative to point out that the community manipulated by a state starts to demand increasingly punitive and brutalized. Not accepting as quite the population starts to employ means to protect themselves from violence, using private spaces, private security, searching to defend itself through civil weaponry, what we verify through official statistics and information as harmful to society as a whole.
