| Summary: | O presente trabalho tem por objetivo examinar Coringa tal qual construído como personagem no romance gráfico A piada mortal (1988), com roteiro de Alan Moore e arte de Brian Bolland, publicado no Brasil pela DC Comics/Panini. Visamos a analisar sua edificação como vilão contemporâneo, a filosofia em que se baseiam as suas ações e as características fundamentais que o tornam único no universo das histórias em quadrinhos e em todo o imaginário que se desdobra a partir dele – como o que é reverberado em filmes e videogames. Partindo de noções de mito e de herói e anti-herói; e de considerações a respeito da personagem literária; e, especificamente, da personagem de quadrinhos, este trabalho examina a hipótese de que Coringa se constitui como personagem literária em A piada mortal, o que representa uma virada relevante na trajetória tanto de Coringa como adversário-chave de Batman quanto na da narrativa de super-heróis como produção artística complexa e digna de estudo. |
| Abstract: | The present work aims to examine Joker’s conception as a character in the graphic novel The Killing Joke (1988), text by Alan Moore, art by Brian Bolland, published in Brazil by DC Comics/ Panini. We analyze the way he is built as a contemporary villain, the philosophy that triggers his actions and the fundamental characteristics that make him unique in the universe of comics and in the imagery that descends from it – which is reverberated in movies and video games. Based on notions of myth and hero and anti-hero and on considerations about the literary character and, specifically, the comic book character, this work addresses The Killing Joke as a relevant turning point in the trajectory of both the Joker as Batman’s key opponent and the superhero narrative as a complex artistic production worthy of study. |
