| Title: | A influência da espiritualidade no tratamento de pacientes oncológicos não paliativos: uma revisão integrativa |

| Summary: | Introdução: O câncer é uma doença invasiva e agressiva marcada por extremo sofrimento e exaustão física, psicológica, social e moral dos pacientes e familiares. No contexto do cuidado humanizado e holístico pode-se observar o quanto fatores externos influenciam direta ou indiretamente no tratamento e seguimento da doença em determinados casos. O tratamento oncológico necessita de suporte emocional intrinsecamente ligado ao tratamento medicamentoso. A espiritualidade se mostra eficaz e necessária, através da busca de um significado, alento, superação e motivação para prosseguir na luta contra a doença. A inserção dessa abordagem dentro dos centros hospitalares em conjunto com o tratamento medicamentoso ofertado aos pacientes que necessitam e desejam esse suporte durante o tratamento traz mudanças significativas na evolução da doença ou enfrentamento e continuidade do tratamento. Objetivo: Esse estudo tem como objetivo verificar a importância da espiritualidade como ferramenta de auxílio e modificações no enfrentamento e melhora do paciente oncológico durante o tratamento. Metodologia: Trata-se de uma Revisão Integrativa(RI) da literatura, conduzida e construída através de etapas baseados no sistema de revisão integrativa “Métodos de pesquisa para a incorporação de evidencias na saúde e na enfermagem”. Realizou-se uma busca avançada nas bases de dados informatizadas a Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS-BIREME): Excerpta Medica dataBASE (EMBASE), US National Library of Medicine (PUBMED) , Literatura Latino Americana e do Caribe em Ciências de Saúde (LILACS) e Cochrane Library. Foram incluídos artigos completos, em língua portuguesa e inglesa publicados entre 2010-2020, utilizando os seguintes descritores controlados em Ciências da Saúde: adaptações psicológicas, comportamento de enfrentamento, espiritualidade, religião, não paliativos e oncologia. Resultados: Foram encontrados 218 artigos e após leitura de títulos e resumos foram selecionados 61 artigos para leitura na íntegra. Realizada leitura minuciosa dos artigos, foram selecionados 15 artigos para compor a amostra final, 3 no idioma português e 12 no idioma inglês. Utilizado instrumento não validado para o registro das informações dos artigos contendo titulo, ano, autores, metodologia, principais resultados e considerações finais. Discussão: A espiritualidade atua como fator de proteção e é uma ferramenta eficaz e benéfica de enfrentamento dentro do tratamento oncológico. Há uma melhora significativa da qualidade de vida desses pacientes assim como uma melhor saúde mental, apresentando melhores níveis de resiliência, esperança e conforto. Pacientes oncológicos são mais saudáveis, otimistas e confiantes. A equipe ainda se encontra despreparada para a abordagem dessa temática dentro do cuidado. Conclusão: Conclui-se que a espiritualidade auxilia consideravelmente dentro do contexto saúde-doença e é vista positivamente no enfrentamento e curso do tratamento, além de ofertar uma busca para além de si mesmo e analisando o individuo como um todo e não somente como patologia. Permite assim, um melhor bem estar espiritual que reflete na qualidade de vida dos pacientes. |
| Abstract: | Introduction: Cancer is an invasive and aggressive disease marked by extreme suffering andphysical, psychological, social and moral exhaustion of patients and families. In the context ofhumanized and holistic care, it is possible to observe how much external factors directly orindirectly influence the treatment and follow-up of the disease in certain cases. Cancertreatment requires emotional support intrinsically linked to drug treatment. Spirituality provesto be effective and necessary, through the search for meaning, encouragement, overcomingand motivation to continue in the fight against the disease. The insertion of this approachwithin hospital centers together with the drug treatment offered to patients who need and wantthis support during treatment brings significant changes in the evolution of the disease orcoping and continuity of treatment. Objective: This study aims to verify the importance ofspirituality as a tool to help and change the coping and improvement of cancer patients duringtreatment. Methodology: This is an Integrative Review (IR) of the literature, conducted andbuilt through steps based on the integrative review system "Research methods forincorporating evidence in health and nursing". An advanced search was carried out in thecomputerized databases of the Virtual Health Library (VHL-BIREME): Excerpta MedicadataBASE (EMBASE), US National Library of Medicine (PUBMED), Latin American andCaribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS ) and Cochrane Library. Complete articleswere included, in Portuguese and English published between 2010-2020, using the followingcontrolled descriptors in Health Sciences: psychological adaptations, coping behavior,spirituality, religion, non-palliative and oncology. Results: 218 articles were found and afterreading the titles and abstracts, 61 articles were selected for full reading. After a thoroughreading of the articles, 15 articles were selected to compose the final sample, 3 in Portugueseand 12 in English. A non-validated instrument was used to record information on articlescontaining title, year, authors, methodology, main results and final considerations.Discussion: The spirituality acts as a protective factor and is an effective and beneficialcoping tool within cancer treatment. There is a significant improvement in the quality of lifeof these patients as well as better mental health, with better levels of resilience, hope andcomfort. Cancer patients are healthier, optimistic and confident. The team is still unpreparedto address this issue within care. Conclusion: It is concluded that spirituality helpsconsiderably within the health-disease context and is viewed positively in coping and thecourse of treatment, in addition to offering a search beyond itself and analyzing the individualas a whole and not only as a pathology. Thus, it allows for a better spiritual well-being thatreflects on the quality of life of patients. |
