Extensão multidisciplinar em Odontologia: perfil do usuário atendido no projeto “Tratamento endodôntico e restaurador em dentes molares”, da Faculdade de Odontologia da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia no período de 2015 à 2019

Abstract

The work aimed to carry out a longitudinal retrospective observational study of the profile of patients and the treated tooth from 2015 to 2019 in the extension project “Endodontic and Restorative Treatment in molar teeth of the Faculty of Dentistry / UFU”. Medical records of patients treated in the project had collected personal data, from subjective (anamnesis) and objective (clinical and radiographic exams) semiologies. Of the 308 patients screened, 109 were treated and 30 were preserved. The profile was mostly women (56%), aged between 21 and 40 years (66%), employed (66.6%), residing in Uberlândia (70.6%), with high school or elementary school (70, 5%) and without serious systemic diseases (63%). The most treated type of tooth was the lower molar (70%). In the anamnesis, 35.7% of the patients reported the presence of pain and on radiographic examination, 68.5% of the teeth had a periapical pathological alteration. From the results, it was observed that the profile of the patients seen was that of those in need of public service, of low and middle socioeconomic class. The multidisciplinary care provided, in a public and free educational institution, proved to be effective and efficient because all the patients who finished the treatment, left with no pain and the tooth function was restored, impacting their health and quality of life.
