| Summary: | Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar os casos de roubos de escravos que aconteceram em Uberaba – MG ao longo do século XIX. Busca-se aproximar esses casos de furtos à experiência da precarização da liberdade no Brasil oitocentista e estabelecer as relações desses crimes com a proibição do tráfico transatlântico em 1850 e a consolidação do tráfico interno de cativos. Além disso, pretende-se ainda analisar os casos de “se deixar furtar” como formas de resistência e estratégias para conseguir melhores condições de vida por parte dos réus e principalmente dos escravizados e escravizadas. Os materiais centrais para essas análises serão uma série de 18 processos criminais que se encontram depositados no Arquivo Público de Uberaba (APU). |
| Abstract: | This paper aims to analyze the cases of “slave robberies” that happened in Uberaba - MG during the nineteenth century. The goal is to bring these cases of theft closer to the experience of “precarious liberty” in nineteenth-century Brazil and to establish the relationship of these crimes with the prohibition of transatlantic trafficking in 1850 and the consolidation of internal captive trafficking. In addition, it is also intended to analyze the cases of " let yourself steal" as forms of resistance and strategies to achieve better living conditions on the part of the defendants and especially the enslaved. The central materials for these reviews will be a series of 18 criminal cases filed in the Uberaba Public Archive (APU). |
