Colecionando conhecimentos: a coleção científica do laboratório de Paleontologia da Universidade Federal De Uberlândia no campus Pontal

Abstract

Collections generally consist of one or more collections, and they cold be related to science and technology or natural history collections. Aiming to properly organize the paleontological collections or compilation of the Analytical Laboratory in Paleontology of the Institute of Exact and Natural Sciences of Pontal of the Federal University of Uberlândia Pontal campus located in the city of Ituiutaba, Minas Gerais State. The present work aimed to organize the first collection of paleontology of the Pontal Campus, from the cataloging of the specimens to the tipping and curation of them. It received the acronym CBPP (Pontal Paleontology Biological Sciences). Still growing, the collection currently contains 919 specimens or sample already described. The collection is divided between four geological ages where 75.6% refer to the Holocene, 23.5% belong to the Cretaceous, 0.5% to the Permian and 0.3% to the Devonian. As well as all the challenges to be met, the UFU Campus Pontal scientific collection is growing and assisting in the formation of well-qualified human courses from a well-structured reference collection for the region.
