| Summary: | O objetivo do presente estudo é analisar um pouco do ser porto-riquenho. Os porto-riquenhos são cidadãos estadunidenses, mas ao mesmo tempo são vistos como imigrantes. Na primeira parte, fazemos um levantamento da história da anexação de Porto Rico, de como um território anexado poderia se tornar um estado e por que isso foi negado a Porto Rico, principalmente em como isso era visto por políticos e juristas contemporâneos e modernos. Na segunda, buscamos entender o que é uma nação, como a narrativa histórica dessa nação acontece e como a minoria porto-riquenha lida com as barreiras que são postas a ela. Para tal, procuramos nos ensaios de Acadio Díaz-Quiñones uma palavra essencialmente porto-riquenha, bregar, buscamos compreender o que ela nos diz em seus significados e sua prática. Essa análise busca os efeitos coloniais no ser porto-riquenho e um pouco do que os porto-riquenhos fazem sobre isso. |
| Abstract: | The objective of the present study is to analyze a little it of being Puerto Rican is. Porto Ricans are US citizens, but at the same time they are seen as immigrants. In the first part, we survey the history of the annexation of Puerto Rico, how an annexed territory could become a state and why this has been denied to Puerto Rico, mainly in how this was seen by contemporary and modern politicians and jurists. In the second part, we seek to understand what a nation is, how the historical narrative of this nation happens and how the Puerto Rican minority deals with the barriers put against them. Thus, we look in the essays of Acadio Díaz-Quiñones for an essentially Puerto Rican word, bregar, and we seek understand what it tells us in its meanings and its practices. This analysis seeks the colonial effects on being Puerto Rican and a little on what Puerto Ricans do about it. |
