| Summary: | Resumo Este estudo tem por objetivo traçar um perfil das estudantes de Odontologia que já são ou se tornaram mães durante o curso de graduação e avaliar as dificuldades de conciliar a maternidade com a vida acadêmica. Assim, foram convidadas a participar as alunas do Curso de Odontologia, que estavam grávidas ou que já tinham filhos para e aquelas que concordaram assinaram um termo de consentimento livre e esclarecido. Em seguida, por meio de questionário enviado por correspondência eletrônica às alunas, foram coletados os dados sociodemográficos e questões relacionadas a gestação, amamentação, impactos na vida acadêmica e as dificuldades encontradas durante o curso. Participaram do estudo dez alunas, com idade média de 26,8 anos, com renda média de 5,5 salários e com filhos em idade média de 38,9 meses. Em relação aos impactos na vida acadêmica, 30% das alunas trancaram o curso e 70% consideraram extremamente difícil conciliar suas atividades. Concluiu-se que há necessidade de melhor abordagem no acolhimento dessas alunas dentro da universidade. |
| Abstract: | This study aims to outline a profile of dental students who are already or become mothers during the undergraduate course and evaluate the related difficulties. Thus, they were invited to participate and those who agreed signed a free and informed consent term. The sociodemographic data and issues related to pregnancy, breastfeeding, impacts on academic life and the difficulties encountered during the course were collected by means of a questionnaire sent by electronic correspondence to the students. This study included 10 students, with a mean age of 26.8 years, with an average income of 5.5 salaries and with children of 38.9 months of age. Resulting in impacts on academic life in a way that: 30% of the students locked the course and 70% considered it extremely difficult to reconcile their activities. It was concluded that there is a need for a better approach in welcoming these students within the university. Descriptors: pregnancy; Dental students, mothers |
