Summary:	Essa pesquisa, realizada com 21 assistentes pessoais (AP) de adultos com deficiência física dependentes, teve os seguintes objetivos: a) conhecer o perfil do assistente pessoal; b)averiguar os sintomas físicos relatados; c)identificar a percepção de sobrecarga da tarefa de assistir; d)correlacionar as variáveis. Os Resultados indicaram: A maioria AP está na meia idade ou velhice, é mulher, casada ou solteira, com baixa escolaridade, trabalha. A relação entre AP e a pessoa com deficiência é predominantemente familiar, em tempo integral. Entre os sintomas físicos relatados estão: Dores; visão e audição fraca. Os participantes relataram percepção de sobrecarga. Houve correlações entre as variáveis.
Abstract:	This research, carried out with 21 personal assistants (PA) of adults with physical disabilities, had the following objectives: a) to know the profile of the personal assistant; b) ascertaining the physical symptoms reported; c) identify the perceived overload of the task of assisting; d) correlate the variables. The results indicated: Most APs are middle aged or old, female, married or single, with low schooling, work. The relationship between PA and the disabled person is predominantly family-related, full-time. Among the physical symptoms reported are: Pain; vision and poor hearing. Participants reported perceived overload. There were correlations between variables.
