Geografia e indústria: estudo sobre uma empresa de laticínios em Ituiutaba-MG

Abstract

The dynamics of agricultural production and agroindustry focused on the dairy and dairy basin led to the development of this study, whose general objective was to analyze the historical field of implantation and expansion of industries in general, at the national level and in the segment of dairy in the municipality of Ituiutaba. The specific objective was to analyze the characterization of the industrial activity of a dairy in the municipality of Ituiutaba-MG, with emphasis on the study of a company, based on its historical context, raw material and production. The methodology adopted was the bibliographical, documentary and case study of the company Laticínio Cantos de Minas, through interviews focused on the search for data on obtaining the raw material, production, products and destination. The work was structured in chapters, which dealt with the history of industry in general, the food industry, and dairy products at the national level; and then focuses on the main industries of Ituiutaba, specifically dairy products, and lastly we focus on the case study of the dairy company object of this study. The research shows that the city of Ituiutaba, after a period of agricultural production, which consisted of rice cultivation, followed the process of technological and economic change and transformation and many entrepreneurs were able to adapt, some even changing the focus of activity to the agroindustry, taking advantage of the dairy potential of the region by focusing on dairy production. This aspect is verified in the case of the analyzed company, that changed from rice producer to the dairy industry, manufacturing and taking its products to several states of the country.
