Summary:	Trata-se de investigação historiográfica inserida no campo dos estudos sobre a História da Educação no Brasil. Em linhas gerais, versa sobre o processo de organização da instrução pública no contexto da República Velha no Brasil (1895-1917), focalizando especificamente, o município de Uberaba-MG. Mediante a análise das características locais, busca promover a ampliação da compreensão acerca do processo de organização da instrução pública ocorrido no alvorecer da República. Foram utilizados como fontes os seguintes documentos: Atas da Câmara Municipal; livros de registros produzidos pelo poder público municipal; e Relatórios de Inspeção de Ensino. De um modo geral, o presente trabalho procurou tratar do processo de organização da educação pública ocorrido no alvorecer do período republicano, procurando demonstrar de que modo específico o município de Uberaba-MG participou do processo de organização da instrução pública nos primeiros anos republicanos. Nesse sentido, o estudo da realidade local contribui para a apreensão do referido processo, levando a repensar a questão, direcionando o olhar para o papel exercido pelos municípios na organização da instrução pública durante os primeiros anos republicanos, confirmado pela a existência de formas próprias de escolarização pública em cada municipalidade. Ao final das reflexões, acreditamos ter ficado demonstrado que, nos primeiros anos republicanos, ocorreu em Uberaba, uma mobilização educativa: um envolvimento do município para com os assuntos relativos à instrução. No período analisado, num contexto crescente de racionalização social, tem-se um reconhecido processo de organização da escolarização municipal, com o poder local assumindo parte da responsabilidade para a instrução pública em seus domínios. No entanto, a instrução municipal, àquele tempo, ainda era marcada por carências de diversas ordens e por estado de desorganização e precariedade. No qual, teve destaque também a predominância da forma escolar das chamadas escolas isoladas.
Abstract:	This is a historiographical research inserted in the studies of the History of Education in Brazil. In general terms, it is about the process of organizing public education in the context of the Old Republic in Brazil (1895-1917), focusing specifically on the municipality of Uberaba-MG. Through the analysis of local characteristics, it seeks to promote the broadening of understanding about the process of organization of public education that occurred in the dawn of the Republic. The following documents were used as sources: Acts of the City Council; records books produced by municipal public authorities; and Teaching Inspection Reports. In general, the present work sought to deal with the process of organization of public education that occurred at the dawn of the republican period, trying to demonstrate how specifically the municipality of Uberaba-MG participated in the process of organizing public education in the early Republican years. In this sense, the study of local reality contributes to the apprehension of this process, leading to a rethinking of the issue, directing the attention to the role played by municipalities in the organization of public instruction during the first republican years, confirmed by the existence of proper forms of public schooling in each municipality. At the end of the reflections, we believe that it was demonstrated that in the first republican years, an educational mobilization took place in Uberaba: an involvement of the municipality in matters related to education. In the analyzed period, in a growing context of social rationalization, there is a recognized process of organization of municipal schooling, with the local power assuming part of the responsibility for public education in its domains. However, municipal instruction at that time was still marked by shortcomings of various orders and by a state of disorganization and precariousness. In which, it was also highlighted the predominance of the school form of the so-called isolated schools.
