| Summary: | O presente trabalho apresenta características acerca do Complexo Industrial-Militar e suas instâncias, em especial o Departamento de Defesa dos Estados Unidos (DoD). São apresentados dados do DoD referentes aos grandes custos com a Guerra do Afeganistão e Guerra do Iraque, eventos que sucederam os atentados em 11 de setembro de 2001 (9/11), para melhor entendimento de como o departamento estreitou relações com suas empresas contratantes. O trabalho tem uma abordagem por meio do método hipotético-dedutivo e análises quantitativas de como a The Boeing Company, uma das principais empresas que detém contratos com o departamento, é beneficiada pelo DoD, principalmente após o 9/11. Essas análises são apresentadas através de valores e mudanças de contratos entre a companhia e o departamento entre os anos de 2000 a 2012 abarcando os governos de George W. Bush e Barack H. Obama, e a participação da Boeing em programas de defesa no contexto em questão. Observações de outros anos, relacionadas aos gastos do governo norte-americano com a empresa, são demonstrados com o objeto de enfatizar a preocupação estadunidense em questões de segurança e defesa, e sua forte relação com a The Boeing Company. |
| Abstract: | The present research shows characteristics about the Industrial-Military Complex and its instances, in particular the Department of Defense of the United States (DoD). DoD data on large costs are presented with the War of Afghanistan and the Iraq War, events that followed the September 11, 2001 (9/11) attacks, to better understand how the department has tightened relations with its contracting companies. The work takes a hypothetical-deductive approach and quantitative analyzes of how The Boeing Company, a leading company that contracts with the department, benefits from DoD, especially after 9/11. These analyzes are presented through values and contract changes between the company and the department among years 2000 and 2012 spanning the governments of George W. Bush and Barack H. Obama, and Boeing's participation in defense programs in the context of question. Observations from other years related to the U.S. government's spending on the company are demonstrated to emphasize U.S. concern about security and defense issues and its strong relationship with The Boeing Company. |
