| Summary: | O terrorismo é um fenômeno político que passou a ter maior notoriedade a partir dos ataques de 11 de setembro de 2001. Diversos estudos e pesquisas tentam decifrar as várias características e atributos do fenômeno. Esta monografia busca desvendar se existe uma lógica estratégica do terrorismo no estudo de caso apresentado. Para isso, há um embate de duas perspectivas divergentes. Robert Pape é o representante da perspectiva de que o terrorismo possui uma lógica estratégica e que os grupos que utilizam do terrorismo alcançam parcial ou totalmente seus objetivos políticos. Eugênio Diniz, por sua vez, é o representante da perspectiva de que o terrorismo não possui tal lógica estratégica e, por conseguinte, não alcança seus objetivos. Ambas as perspectivas serão testadas a partir do estudo de caso do grupo terrorista palestino Hamas. |
| Abstract: | Terrorism is a political phenomenon that became most notorious after the attacks of September 11, 2001. Several studies and researches try to decipher various of the characteristics and atributes of the phenomenon. This article seeks to unravel if a strategic logic of terrorism exists. For this, it is necessary to opose two divergent perspectives. Robert Pape is the representative of the perspective of the existence of a strategic logic of terrorism and that the groups wich uses terrorism achieve partially or totally their political goals. Eugênio Diniz, in turn, is the representative of the perspective of the inexistence of a strategic logic of terrorism and, therefore, does not achieve its political goals. Both perspectives will be tested in the case of the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. |
