Serviços Intensivos em Conhecimento e Serviços Tradicionais: um panorama intersetorial de micro e pequenas empresas

Abstract

Micro and Small Enterprises (SME) are recognized for having great social and economic importance in Brazil. And Knowledge Intensive Services (KIBS) are recognized for the generation of innovation for other companies, an element that can be decisive for extending the longevity of organizations. KIBS are composed of companies from different service industry whose activities are primary sources of information and knowledge. The present study outlines an overview of MSE in KIBS, whose main objective is to compare the longevity rates between traditional service companies and knowledge intensive services. For this, quantitative analysis of secondary data were carried out, the data were collected at the Junta Comercial do Estado de Minas Gerais (JUCEMG) and at the Instituto Brasileiro de Geografia e Estatística (IBGE). Two hypotheses were established for the performance of the tests and analysis of results. Hypothesis 1, which states that KIBS firms have a higher percentage of people employed with a higher education level in relation to traditional sectors of services firms, was not rejected by the research. Hypothesis 2, which states that KIBS firms have a longer longevity than traditional firms, was rejected by the survey. This paper proposes, as a practical application of its content, the use of Table 3, prepared by the author, which deals with the association between KIBS and CNAE 2.0. This association, which did not exist before the present study, can be applied in other studies that analyze the KIBS in Brazil, in order to maintain the accuracy between the definitions of KIBS and CNAE.
