Summary:	O nacionalismo remete-se diretamente a uma ideia de nação, que apesar de muito presente no vocabulário corrente, é dificílima de ser definida cientificamente. Afinal, o que é uma nação? Como se criam as identidades nacionais? Apesar da falta de definição, o sentimento compartilhado é real, fazendo com que atualmente todos os Estados se considerem oficialmente uma nação. O presente trabalho é uma revisão bibliográfica que surge com a finalidade de analisar a evolução dos estudos sobre nação e nacionalismo conforme as obras de alguns autores, selecionados cuidadosamente devido à sua relevância ao tema bem como as novidades trazidas quando relacionados a autores precedentes. A pesquisa contrapõe teorias de alguns autores como Lord Acton, Ernest Gellner, Eric Hobsbawn, Benedict Anderson e Kojin Karatani a fim de traçar similaridades e divergências, confirmando a amplitude e evolução do debate.
Abstract:	Nationalism refers directly to an idea of a nation, which, although present in today's vocabulary, is difficult to define scientifically. After all, what is a nation? How are national identities created? Despite the lack of definition, shared sentiment is real, making all States now officially consider themselves as a nation. The present work is a bibliographical review that arises with the purpose of analyzing the evolution of the studies on nation and nationalism according to the works of some authors, carefully selected due to its relevance to the theme as well as the innovations brought when related to previous authors. The research contrasts theories of some authors such as Lord Acton, Ernest Gellner, Eric Hobsbawn, Benedict Anderson and Kojin Karatani in order to draw similarities and divergences, confirming the breadth and evolution of the debate.
