| Summary: | Infecções de origem odontogênica severas possuem o potencial de disseminar-se pelos espaços faciais e comprometer a vida do paciente, devendo, portanto ser tratadas como uma urgência que requerem intervenção imediata. Muitas vezes comorbidades prévias do paciente infectado, como deficiência imunológica, diabetes e cirrose hepática, predispõe ao agravamento da infecção e podem dificultar seu tratamento. Neste relato de caso apresentamos um paciente com infecção dos espaços temporal, bucal e submandibular devido a comprometimento dentário, submetido à drenagens extrabucais e associação de antibiótico-terapia para o controle eficaz da infecção. |
| Abstract: | Severe odontogenic infections have the potential to spread through facial spaces and compromises the patient´s life, and should be treated as a emergency requiring immediate intervention. Usually, previous comorbidities of the infected patient, such as immunological deficiency, diabetes, liver cirrhousis, predisposes to worsening the infection and make it difficult to treat. In this case report we present a patient with infection on temporal, buccal and submandibular spaces due to dental involvement, submitted to extraoral drainage and antibiotic therapy combination for the effective infection control. |
