Avaliação do conhecimento dos alunos de graduação da FOUFU em relação à terapêutica medicamentosa em Odontopediatria

Abstract

To evaluate the degree of knowledge of undergraduate students of the Faculty of Dentistry of the Federal University of Uberlândia (FOUFU) regarding drug therapy in Pediatric Dentistry. Socio-demographic data, academic training, legislation in force and prescription drugs with a questionnaire were collected, and tabulated and statistically analyzed. The sample consisted of 174 students, with mean age of 22 years and 3 months (± 2 years and 1 month), of which 51 (29.31%) and 123 (70.69%) were male and female respectively. The results showed that 22 (12.64%) and 63 (36.21%) students felt safe and apt, respectively, to carry out prescription medication. There was great interest of the students (60.92%) in attending courses and lectures on the subject. According to the Mann-Whitney U test, statistically significant differences were found between the frequencies of correct answers, and in the male group the highest scores were those of the 6th and 10th periods compared to the 7th and the highest scores were those of the 5th, 6th and 9th grade students compared to the 4th grade and the 10th grade students compared to the 6th and 9th grade students. According to Spearman's Correlation Coefficient (p <0.05), positive correlations were found between successes and interest in attending courses and lectures. It was concluded that students who are attending the last periods of the undergraduate course had more correct answers than those at the beginning, however the majority feel unprepared to carry out prescription medication.
