Resumo
O objetivo desse trabalho é a análise do Romance Parque Industrial, de Patrícia Galvão, e de
algumas questões vinculadas ao Modernismo brasileiro, principalmente a Semana de 22 e o
período da década de 30. Tais questões dizem respeito ao embate entre o conteúdo e a forma,
o engajamento político e a pesquisa estética. O desdobramento dessa problematização levounos
até a definição do romance proletário e a tematização do outro: a mulher e o proletário. A
representação do outro no romance tornou possível especular sobre o papel assumido pela
própria autora no Modernismo brasileiro e como ela trabalha a relação do intelectual com o
outro em sua obra. A análise empreendida tornou possível problematizar a denominação
romance proletário, atribuindo-lhe, com base na revisão crítica empreendida por Luis Bueno,
em seu livro Uma História do Romance de 30, um caráter propagandístico da causa proletária.
No entanto, apostamos que Pagu não abandona completamente as diretrizes da pesquisa
estética tão propalada pelos modernistas de 22 e por isso arriscamo-nos a apontar alguns
elementos de construção de uma linguagem diferenciada em sua narrativa.
Abstract
This research aims at analyzing the novel Parque Industrial, by Patrícia Galvão, as well as
some issues related to the Brazilian Modernism, mainly the Week of 22 and the 1930s.
Such issues concerns to the confrontation between content and format, political engagement
and esthetic research. These questionings led us to the definition of the proletary novel and
the theming of the other: the woman and the proletary. The representation of the other in the
novel raised the possibility of speculating about the role taken by the author herself in the
Brazilian Modernism and of questioning how she deals with the relation of the intellectual
and the other in her writing. The analysis made it possible to question the propagandistic
feature of the proletary novel developed by Luís Bueno´s critics in his book Uma História do
Romance de 30, for we state that Pagu does not leave the goals of the esthetic research started
by the modernists of 1922. Therefore, we take the risks of pointing some elements of the
construction of a diferentiated language in her narrative.
