Abstract
Introduction: The effectiveness of strength training is confirmed by the literature for several purposes. The instrument used to measure isometric force is the dynamometer, so it can apply this value to associate it with what is found in the 1-RM test in stiff exercise related to dynamic force.
Objectives: To identify the association between the maximum isometric strength test on the dynamometer and the 1-RM stiff exercise stiff.
Procedures: Initially, the dynamometer test was performed. The volunteer should remain with the knees semi-flexed and back flexed forward, forming an angle of 120º with arms extended. Then the 1-RM stiff test was performed to find the maximum strength of the volunteer after 5 repetitions with a 1-minute rest interval between repetitions. A 3-minute rest pattern was adopted between the lumbar extension and stiff dynamometry tests.
Results: The ratio coefficient (v) + 1 / -1 indicated a strong and positive association between stiff and lumbar extension dynamometry (r = 0.91). Thus, we can establish an equation to predict the maximum load to be lifted in stiff exercises, with 1-RM stiff = 7.1692 + 0.804. X. The results were significantly higher in the dynamometer test compared to that identified in the stiff, for p <0.05.
Conclusions: There is a strong association between 1RM in stiff exercise and lumbar extension dynamometry and the data indicate that lumbar extension dynamometry can predict the maximum stiff exercise load.
