Entretanto, a análise volumétrica
apresentou boa acurácia apenas em osso nativo.
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the accuracy of microtomography to evaluate in
a linear and volumetric areas of native bone and grafted in biopsies of maxillary sinuses
grafted with deproteinized bovine bone (DBB) in humans and its correlation with
histometric analysis. A total of 111 biopsies of the previously grafted maxillary sinuses
were collected from 19 patients. Linear analyzes in the area of native bone were
correlated and grafted from the microtomographic and histometric analyzes. In addition,
specifically in the volumetric analysis, there were variations in the thresholds (Gray
scale) between 90-250, reducing the point of the upper limit until the interval of 90-150.
In the microtomographic analysis, the linear length of native bone and grafted bone was
2.44 ± 0.91 mm and 3.63 ± 1.66 mm, respectively, whereas in histometric analysis, the
length of native bone was 2.48 ± 1.50 mm and bone grafted was 3.13 ± 1.45 mm, which
generated a correlation level of r = 0.57 in native bone and r = 0.74 in the grafted area.
Histometric analysis showed a percentage of bone of 45.91 ± 11.69% in the native bone
area, and 49.57 ± 5.59% of bone and biomaterial in the grafted area. The total volume of
mineralized tissues that were closest to the values of the histometric analysis were 43.75
± 15.39% in the native bone area (Threshold: 90-240) and 51.68 ± 8.42% in the grafted
area (Threshold: 90-180). The level of correlation between these analyzes was positive
and significant (r = 0.50) in native bone and non-significant (r = -0.028) in the grafted
area. The microtomographic analysis showed good accuracy in the linear analysis in
both portions of the biopsies. However, the volumetric analysis showed good accuracy
only in native bone.
