Este trabalho analisa criticamente o papel da Educação Física em instituições de privação de liberdade para crianças e adolescentes em conflito com a lei, investigando como as lógicas hegemônicas e ideológicas têm influenciado historicamente as práticas e políticas socioeducativas no Brasil. Com base na perspectiva materialista histórico-dialética, a pesquisa bibliográfica e documental buscou compreender as raízes do sistema socioeducativo, revelando contradições entre o arcabouço legal vigente — como o Estatuto da Criança e do Adolescente (ECA) e o Sistema Nacional de Atendimento Socioeducativo (SINASE) — e a realidade vivida nas instituições. Constatou-se que a atuação da Educação Física nesses espaços ainda é marcada por modelos tradicionais, com forte ênfase esportiva, disciplinares e reprodutores de valores conservadores, herdados da doutrina da Situação Irregular e do movimento higienista. A falta de formação específica e de produção acadêmica sobre o tema também limita o potencial crítico e emancipador da área. Nesse contexto, o estudo aponta a urgência de se promover práticas educativas mais inclusivas, críticas e transformadoras, que considerem as especificidades sociais, culturais e históricas dos jovens atendidos e que potencializam a Educação Física como ferramenta de ressocialização e justiça social.
Abstract
This paper critically analyzes the role of Physical Education in institutions that deprive children and adolescents in conflict with the law of their liberty, investigating how hegemonic and ideological logics have historically influenced socio-educational practices and policies in Brazil. Based on a historical-dialectical materialist perspective, the bibliographic and documentary research sought to understand the roots of the socio-educational system, revealing contradictions between the current legal framework — such as the Child and Adolescent Statute (ECA) and the National Socio-Educational Assistance System (SINASE) — and the reality experienced in the institutions. It was found that the performance of Physical Education in these spaces is still marked by traditional models, with a strong emphasis on sports, disciplinary models and reproduction of conservative values, inherited from the doctrine of Irregular Situation and the hygienist movement. The lack of specific training and academic production on the subject also limits the critical and emancipatory potential of the area. In this context, the study highlights the urgency of promoting more inclusive, critical and transformative educational practices that consider the social, cultural and historical specificities of the young people served and that enhance Physical Education as a tool for resocialization and social justice.
