Assim, a relação
Abstract
This work aimed to address the concepts of self-esteem and subjective well-being based on
contributions from Positive Psychology and Social Psychology, and based on an integrative
review of the current literature. The main objective of this work was the research and the
discussion of the relationship between self-esteem and subjective well-being with emphasis on
the Sociometric Theory. Self-esteem refers to the individual perception of oneself and its worth
(self-concept), while subjective well-being relies on the individual evaluations of life. The way
an individual perceives themselves (self-esteem) influences how they perceive their own life
holistically (subjective well-being) and vice-versa. Self-esteem and subjective well-being are
complex constructs, socially refined and multifaceted, arising from adaptive elements for an
organized life in society. Therefore, the relation between self-esteem and subjective well-being
is given through the act of conecting positively with people, with the intent of self-realization.
The other variables found correlated, like job satisfaction, emotional intelligence, gratitude,
quality in family environment, vigor, etc, can be summed up in the sense that self-esteem and
subjective well-being sustain a more authentic way of living. Both have in commom the intent
of protecting and promoting the hability for individuals to connect, aiming to create a more
sustainable environment for all.
