Resumo
Este trabalho faz uma análise de Brasil e Rússia no contexto dos Megaeventos
Esportivos. No âmbito das Relações Internacionais, dificilmente o esporte é colocado como
uma possibilidade de ascensão internacional e realização de interesses diplomáticos. Contudo,
os megaeventos esportivos têm mudado essa percepção, uma vez que eles têm sido muito
utilizados pelos países como instrumento de política externa, mais especificamente através do
soft power. Eles buscam esses eventos visando maior protagonismo no cenário mundial por
alguns dias, de forma a apresentar sua cultura, seu país, seu poder, seu povo ou sua
identidade. Se por um lado o Brasil busca se tornar mais assertivo na região, e quem sabe
futuramente obter uma posição de maior prestígio no cenário internacional, a Rússia busca a
restauração da Rússia como superpotência mundial. É muito difícil que o evento
instantaneamente coloque o país já atuando no cenário internacional, mas sem dúvidas serve
para melhorar a imagem do país frente ao mundo e colocá-lo na rota das principais potências.
Abstract
This work makes an analysis of Brazil and Russia in the context of the Sports Mega-
events. When it comes to the International Relations’ area, sport is rarely put as a possibility
of international rise and the achievement of diplomatic interests. However, the sports mega-
events has changed this kind of perception, since it have been used a lot for the countries as an
instrument of foreign policy, more specifically of soft power. They seek these events aiming
for greater prominence on the world stage for a few days in order to present their culture,
their country, their power, their people or their identity. If, on the one hand, Brazil seeks to
become more assertive in the region, and who may eventually obtain a more prestigious
position on the international stage, Russia seeks the restoration of Russia as a world
superpower. It is very difficult for the event to instantly put the country on the international
stage, but without a doubt it serves to improve the image of the country in front of the world
and put it on the route of the main powers.
