Potencial transformador da inserção da fisioterapia no ambiente escolar por meio do Programa de Saúde na Escola

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the transformative potential of incorporating physiotherapy into schools through the School Health Program (Decree No. 6,286/2007), a government initiative that seeks to promote the health of basic education students. An integrative literature review was developed, following six steps: formulation of the central question, criteria for inclusion and exclusion, data collection, critical analysis, interpretation, and summary of findings. Articles published between 2015 and 2025, fully accessible, that addressed the role of physiotherapy in the school environment and/or in the School Health Program were included. Initially, 107 records were located, and after selection stages, 10 studies formed the final sample. The results show that physiotherapy helps promote health, prevent musculoskeletal problems, provide postural education, encourage active lifestyles, and reduce sedentary behavior. The importance of the physiotherapist in the school inclusion of students with disabilities is also evident, through adaptations, guidance, and encouragement of participation in school activities. Despite the potential found, there are challenges such as the non-mandatory inclusion of the professional, excessive workload of health teams, and limitations in the structure. It was shown that physiotherapy plays a fundamental role in strengthening the union between health and education, contributing to comprehensive care and the creation of healthier school environments.
