| dc.description.abstract | The tomato plant is a vegetable of socioeconomic expression in the country. Despite its importance, bacterial spot caused by four Xanthomonas species can compromise crop production. Alternatives in the control the disease, such as the use of inactivated bacterial suspension (IBS), have been used, since copper-based products have contested efficiency due to the presence of resistant isolates. However, studies involving IBS are recent, and its potential to control the different species of Xanthomonas should be evaluated. The objectives of this study were to identify tomato genotypes with resistance to the pathogen, to optimize sprays and the IBS spray interval in disease control, and to evaluate the potential of using IBS in management of bacterial spot caused by the four Xanthomonas species. The study was developed in four experiments: 1) In the first experiment, genotypes were evaluated with the objective of selecting those resistance to X. euvesicatoria pv. perforans. 2) In the second experiment, the ideal concentration of Xanthomonas (107 CFU mL-1) and the most indicated IBS spraying interval (4 and 2 days before inoculation) were determined in the management bacterial spot. 3) In the third experiment, the potential of IBS to reduce the severity of bacterial spot caused by X. euvesicatoria pv. perforans in tomato genotypes was evaluated. 4) In the fourth experiment, the use of IBS from other species was evaluated, as well as the IBS mix. | pt_BR |
