Abstract

The reconfiguration of international economic and political relations refers to significant changes in global dynamics that impact interactions between countries and international actors. From this perspective, this study sought to investigate the economic development achieved during the first governments of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (2003 – 2010) and how multilateralism, especially South-South cooperation, adopted as a fundamental feature of foreign policy in the period of the first Lula governments fulfilled influenced the Brazilian economic growth recorded during this period. The research has a descriptive and historical nature that will be analyzed using a hypothetical-deductive bias, which incorporates events dated both after and before the event in question. It was found that Brazil, during the first two terms of the Lula government, achieved a position in the world list of large developing nations, seeking favorable agreements and commercial relations for the country and its projects, helping to position Brazil as a relevant economy in the world. world. Thus, it is concluded that the Lula era is described in literature and research on economics and international relations, as a period of economic growth that was the basis for one of Brazil's greatest international projections.
