"Elle est Delphine": o duplo no filme Baseado em Fatos Reais

Abstract

At the intersection between psychoanalysis and art, this study aims to illustrate the phenomenon of the double in psychosis, with an emphasis on its persecutory aspect, through an analysis of the film Based on a True Story. This is a research project situated within the scope of the extension of the psychoanalytic method, in which it was possible to demonstrate the hypothesis: that the relationship portrayed throughout the film between the characters Delphine and Elle expresses the construction of the double in psychosis. In this clinical structure, there is a rupture in the relationship between the ego and the external world due to the primary rejection (Verwerfung) of reality. In an attempt to symbolically reorganize the rejected reality, the subject seeks to reconstruct it through delusion. In the beginning, the construction of a double appears as an attempt at stabilization and protection against threats of psychic disintegration: the subject narcissistically identifies with the idealized aspects of the double and projects undesirable contents onto it. However, this formation carries an intrinsic tension that ultimately inverts its function, becoming the very threat, the persecutor, as occurs in paranoia. In this sense, it was possible to establish that Elle is Delphine.
