dc.description.abstractThe aim of this paper is to think about how Dracula can be analyzed in the context of 19th century literate culture, based on the concept of encyclopedic narrative developed by Edward Mendelson. From this perspective, Dracula would be an expression of the Enlightenment bibliographic culture that seeks to transform everything into knowledge through books. The documentary corpus used is, in addition to the novel, texts from the time that commented on the publication in the 19th century. The main objectives are to analyze how Dracula was read and criticized at the time of its publication, and how Dracula, by synthesizing knowledge about vampires, functions as a literary archive of a fictional theme.pt_BR
