Abstract

This Undergraduate Thesis (TCC) uses the Álbum de Modinhas, a family artifact full of affective and historical value, as a starting point for the development of an editorial design project. The proposal aims to rescue and preserve the cultural and graphic memory present in the object, creating a book that dialogues with the historical context in which the artifact was produced.The proposal aims to rescue and preserve the cultural and graphic memory present in the object by creating a book that dialogues with the historical context in which the artifact was produced. For the execution of the book project, an edition is developed using the memory artifact found by the student, the Álbum de Modinhas, reinterpreted through design in order to facilitate its understanding. Through paleographic analysis and an understanding of calligraphy as a foundation for modern typography, this work investigates the evolution of writing, the book, and manual making in Brazil. The result seeks to provoke a critical reflection on the culture of writing, while at the same time contributing to the valorization of graphic and affective heritages, ensuring their permanence for future generations.
