A Política Externa do Brasil Perante a Minustah: uma revisão bibliográfica

Abstract

This article presents a literature review that explores the political motivations driving Brazil's participation in the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH), analyzing how this involvement reflects the country's effort to assert itself as an emerging power on the global stage. Among the main motivations are the pursuit of a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the consolidation of regional leadership, the strengthening of multilateralism, and the exercise of a solidarity-based diplomacy grounded in the principle of "non-indifference." The study also addresses criticisms of Brazil's role in the mission, questioning the effectiveness of this participation in achieving the country's strategic objectives, while highlighting operational challenges and the costs involved. Finally, a mapping of the debate on the subject is presented, concluding that although MINUSTAH provided a significant opportunity for Brazil's international projection, this involvement generates dilemmas that challenge the coherence of its foreign policy.
