dc.description.abstractUrolithiasis is a common problem in veterinary clinics. Its treatment depends on the location, composition and size of the uroliths. Imaging tests are used for this purpose. Due to the availability of ultrasound, this has been the first choice in cases of suspected urolithiasis. However, it is known that the size of uroliths is overestimated using this method. Therefore, this study aims to compare the size of stones using radiography and ultrasound. For this purpose, the database of the Imaging Diagnosis Sector of the Veterinary Hospital of the Federal University of Uberlândia was used to select cases diagnosed with urolithiasis, for evaluation and comparison of the size of the stone using radiographs and ultrasound (considering the hyperechoic surface and the measurement of the acoustic shadow). It was found that the urolith can be measured with greater accuracy using the measurement of the hyperechoic surface compared to the acoustic shadow, with radiography being better for cases of multiple stones.pt_BR

dc.description.resumoA urolitíase é um problema frequente na clínica veterinária, seu tratamento depende da localização, da composição e do tamanho dos urólitos, para isso são utilizados exames de imagem. Pela disponibilidade do aparelho ultrassonográfico este tem sido a primeira escolha em suspeitas de urolitíase, no entanto é sabido que ocorre uma superestimação do tamanho dos urólitos nessa modalidade. Portanto, o presente trabalho visa comparar o tamanho dos cálculos através da radiografia e da ultrassonografia. Para isso, utilizou-se o banco de dados do Setor de Diagnóstico por Imagem do Hospital Veterinário da Universidade Federal de Uberlândia, para selecionar os casos diagnosticados com urolitíase, para avaliação e comparação do tamanho do cálculo pelas radiografias e pela ultrassonografia (considerando a superfície hiperecoica e a medida da sombra acústica). Verificou-se que o urólito pode ser medido com maior acurácia utilizando a medida da superfície hiperecoica em comparação a sombra acústica sendo a radiografia melhor para casos de múltiplos cálculos.pt_BR
